Be part of the Crime Stoppers team!
As a business leader, you are aware of the importance of creating an environment that is safe for our families and encourages business growth and prosperity. Yet, metropolitan Detroit has been plagued with the reputation of being a high crime area. Every year, people and companies throughout the region experience serious and sometimes violent crimes. As a result, crime and the fear of crime are eroding the quality of our lives.
I would like to introduce you to Crime Stoppers of Michigan. Crime Stoppers has as its mission the goal of reducing crime and the fear of crime in our neighborhoods through out Southeast Michigan.

Crime Stoppers evolved from a 1992 meeting at the Detroit Regional Chamber, when business leaders, law enforcement representatives and community supporters came together to share concerns about crime and to consider options to address its challenge. The Alliance for a Safer Greater Detroit was formed, and through this partnership the Crime Stoppers of Michigan initiative was launched.
The Crime Stoppers program builds on a model that has been successfully implemented around the world. Reward money is provided to tipsters whose leads contribute to arrests. A key component of the program is the guarantee of anonymity to the tipsters, who otherwise would be reluctant to get involved because of fears of retaliation or reluctance to testify in court.

Since its inception, Crime Stoppers has been responsible for the reporting of thousands of crimes. In 2010 we received over 4000 tips . In 2010, over 170 felony arrests have been made using our 1-800-Speak Up anonymous tip line. The crimes involved are those that would not have been solved without the incentives and security provided by the Crime Stoppers initiative.

Despite the success that Crime Stoppers has achieved, we can and should do more. And, this is where we need your help. Crime Stoppers depends on the support of business and the community to maintain its operations, and we would like to invite you to become a Crime Stoppers partner.
